British Manufacturer Wearwell Appoints New Chairman

British Manufacturer Wearwell Appoints New Chairman

Wearwell, the British workwear manufacturer, has announced the appointment of Simon Hughes as its new chairman following its acquisition by CEO, Richard Wright last summer.

Hughes has a long history in the workwear sector, having founded and then sold Dimensions and currently holds a number of private equity investments. His private equity venture had early talks with Wright ahead of the subsequent funding round, although no agreement was reached.

“Simon is a seasoned executive with strong business acumen and a successful track record of leading businesses within the textile sector”.

Hughes took his position on the board in October and joins Wright in spearheading Wearwell’s development plans. The Tamworth-based firm celebrates its 79th anniversary this year with ambitious growth targets which will see it building on its heritage with expansion into a number of new markets.

Wearwell CEO Richard Wright said, “We are truly excited to welcome Simon Hughes to the Wearwell board as chairman. Simon is a seasoned executive with strong business acumen and a successful track record of leading businesses within the textile sector. He brings critical skills to our board and will lend valuable counsel as we focus on driving forward with our exciting growth plans.”

Commenting on his appointment, Chairman Simon Hughes said, “Growth is a key focus for Wearwell and I am delighted to join the board at such a key time. The company has a long history and we’re keen to build on that with some dynamic new strategies harnessing and celebrating that heritage. I’m very pleased with how Wearwell is responding to Richard’s leadership and the strong start we have made.”
