Wearwell Proud to Sponsor Local Cancer Centre

Wearwell, is proud to have sponsored the Tamworth Wellbeing & Cancer Support Centre at last weekend’s Aston Unity Cricket Challenge.

The event marked the centre’s fifth year of fundraising events, with the Community Group of the Year award winner raising money for those with cancer and chronic illness.

The charity fun day featured a nail-biting cricket tournament, and offered mums, dads, grandparents and children of all ages the opportunity to try cricket for free. The centre succeeded in raising hundreds of pounds at last year’s event.

“We all know someone whose life has been affected by cancer and chronic illness, and we’re incredibly lucky to have one of the country’s most dedicated cancer centres right on our doorstep here in Tamworth,” says Wearwell’s CEO, Richard Wright. “We are delighted to have sponsored the Tamworth Wellbeing & Cancer Support Centre at this year’s community cricket challenge, and we’re confident that the funds raised will go a long way towards improving the quality of life and care for many.”

The Tamworth Wellbeing & Cancer Support Centre offers a wide range of support services for local people affected by cancer and other forms of chronic illness. It delivers holistic therapies, craft therapies and a selection of wellbeing projects. The centre also provides wig fitting and styling services for cancer patients, and bra fitting services for those affected by breast cancer.

The annual charity day holds a very special place in the hearts of the Wearwell team, with the event hosted by a former employee of the company. Donations and proceeds from the day are used to provide vital funding for a number of local charity organisations including the Tamworth & Lichfield Sea Cadets, the Tamworth Cancer Centre, Cricket Against Cancer, Santa’s Little Helpers and the Tamworth Round Table. In addition, the Green Turtles swimming club raised money for the County Air Ambulance Trust while Poppyfields raised funds for the Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

The Aston Unity Cricket Challenge took place on Sunday 18th August at Aston Unity CC based at Bassetts Pole. Along with the cricket tournament, the event also featured live music, raffles, auctions, and plenty of fun and games for the whole family.
