Wearwell Joins The Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce
Award-winning British workwear specialist, Wearwell is returning to its Birmingham roots as it confirms membership to the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce.
Wearwell was based in Birmingham for almost thirty years, from its foundation in 1939 right through to the mid-1960s, when the firm moved to its present Tamworth base.
Emma Smith, Wearwell Business Solutions Manager says, “We employ over 60 local staff and we are proud that we still manufacture some of our range here in the UK. We are passionate about our local heritage and keeping the tradition of manufacturing alive. Being able to network and collaborate with other local industries will hopefully bring us mutual opportunities for expanding our business and working with other local Birmingham entities.
“The opportunity to join a local network and benefit from the events and networking opportunities was attractive to us and we are just discovering all the services that the Chamber can provide. The support options, facilities and services on offer will be useful for us for our training and development and we already have several events in our diary that we are planning to attend. The marketing and social media presence is also an attractive opportunity for us to grow awareness of Wearwell and what we do.”
Part of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, the Edgbaston-based Birmingham Chamber has members from more than 18 different industries – fruits of the fact that the West Midlands city has the greatest concentration of businesses in the UK outside of London.
Having recently attracted major investment from a wealth of global name firms, Birmingham is booming as a business hub, making it the ideal match for the thriving Wearwell. The firm, which celebrates its 80 year anniversary next year recently unveiled a revitalised new brand, including a brand new website, and won two awards at the Professional Clothing Awards in June, including the title of Best UK Manufacturer.
