Wearwell Launches Washable Antibacterial Face Mask

Wearwell Launches Washable Antibacterial Face Mask

British PPE manufacturer, Wearwell has launched a washable, antibacterial face mask which uses silver ion antimicrobial technology to provide protection against bacterial growth and airborne germs. The silver ion layer offers 99.9% effective against all known bacterial pathogens.

The addition of the reusable masks to Wearwell’s extensive line of PPE comes as the Scottish government moved to recommend face masks be worn while shopping and on public transport. Downing Street is also understood to be considering its advice after concluding that face masks can lower transmission of coronavirus.

Wearwell’s light weight, double-layer cotton masks are designed to be comfortable to wear with soft, elasticated ear loops and mouldable nose seal. Each mask can be washed up to 20 times (Please follow wash instructions on packet) with no impact on effectiveness.

The Tamworth-based manufacturer has been making workwear since 1939 and has been working around the clock to help in the fight against coronavirus. In addition to operating increased shifts to ramp up production and adding new production lines, the Wearwell team has shipped thousands of pairs of scrubs to NHS workers on the frontline.

“In Spain, Italy, the United States, Mexico, Scotland and countless other countries around the world, masks are either being mandated or recommended at national and local levels to help stop the spread of coronavirus,” says Wearwell CEO Richard Wright.

“While it is important that other social distancing measures are still absorbed, a mouth and nose covering is known to be effective when it comes to stopping transmission of the virus. We’ve heard from the Prime Minister this week that they will be an effective tool to get people back to work safely when the economy restarts so it’s important that we’re able to provide non-medical masks to safeguard NHS supplies.”

Wearwell face masks are available in packs of 10 and can be pre-ordered now for delivery on 18 May.
